What we aim for

GrindSense aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This page says what we have checked, what we know falls short, and how to tell us when something does not work for you. It is a statement of our own testing, not an independent audit.

What is checked, and how

  • An automated WCAG 2.2 AA check (axe-core) runs weekly, and on demand before larger releases, over the sign-in gate, the dashboard, the lobby, a live table, the drills, hand review, analytics, the profile, the leaderboard, the tournaments page and the guide. Serious and critical findings are treated as bugs and fixed in a following release.
  • Keyboard: the gate, the forms and the table's action bar can be operated with the keyboard alone, and the focused control is visibly outlined.
  • Colour is never the only carrier of meaning at the table: cards show their rank and suit as text, winners are named in words, the action timer shows seconds as well as a ring, and folds and wins are announced in a text line as they happen.
  • Text on the dark felt and panels is checked for AA contrast; the remaining low-contrast decorative labels are being raised.

Known limitations

  • A live poker table is a real-time, visual game. Hand state is announced in a text live region (who acted, who won, with what), but following six seats and a timer through a screen reader alone is slow, and we have not yet designed a dedicated non-visual table mode.
  • Card deal and chip animations are short (under 300 ms) and can be switched off: “Reduce motion” under Display in your profile stills the deal, the chip slides and the spinning rank rings. The operating system's reduced-motion setting is honoured on its own as well, where the browser reports it, so either one is enough. What is still missing: the switch is remembered per device rather than on your account, and the signed-out landing page follows the operating system only.
  • Some charts on the analytics page are drawn as graphics with a text summary beside them rather than a full data table.
